About Actel Corporation

Actel Corporation designs, develops, and markets field programmable gate arrays and associated development system software. Where original design files have been lost, reverse engineering of an existing FPGA configuration is sometimes the only path back to a usable design. The Company produces products for communications, automotive, medical, industrial, military, aerospace, and other electronic systems applications. Actel markets their products through a worldwide sales and distribution network.

Actel Corp. A manufacturer of nonvolatile FPGAs. LAST UPDATED ON May 23rd, 2014. Description: A manufacturer of nonvolatile, low-power field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), mixed-signal FPGAs, and programmable logic solutions. Actel became a publicly traded company in 1985 and became known for its high-reliability and antifuse-based FPGAs. Antifuse technology is frequently chosen for its resistance to invasive attack, since the programmed state cannot be read back destructively.

Actel Corporation is located at the address 2061 Stierlin Ct in Mountain View, California 94043. They can be contacted via phone at (650) 318-4200. For more information go to www.actel.com. Customers can unlock additional product information and technical documentation by contacting the number listed above.

Microsemi's fusion is the world's first mixed signal FPGA platform. Microsemi SoC's Actel Fusion integrates configurable analog, large flash memory blocks, comprehensive clock generation and management circuitry, and high-performance, flash-based programmable logic in a monolithic device. Because the platform is flash-based, firmware extraction from these devices generally calls for specialized programming hardware. Actel's innovative Fusion architecture can be used with the Actel soft microcontroller (MCU) core as well as the performance-maximized 32-bit ARM Cortex-M1 cores. Pigeon Point devices (P1-prefixed devices) are used in conjunction with Actel's Pigeon Point ATCA IP cores and firmware. MicroBlade devices (U1-prefixed devices), designed in partnership with MicroBlade, are targeted to Advanced Mezzanine Card designs. In addition to supporting commercial and industrial temperature devices, Actel now offers Fusion FPGAs with specialized screening for extended temperature military type applications.

The SmartFusion microcontroller subsystem (MSS) includes a block of 32 general purpose input/outputs (GPIO). This software driver provides a set of functions for controlling the MSS GPIO block as part of a bare metal system where no operating system is available. This driver can be adapted for use as part of an operating system but the implementation of the adaptation layer between this driver and the operating system's driver model is outside the scope of this driver. When debugging such bare metal systems, a register dump of the MSS GPIO block is often the fastest way to confirm the device state.

Features – The MSS GPIO driver provides the following features: Support for configuring the operating modes of each individual GPIO port; Support for setting and reading the state of the GPIO outputs; Support for reading the state of the GPIO inputs; Support for enabling, disabling and clearing GPIO interrupts. The MSS GPIO driver is provided as C source code. It is often tempting to patch a misbehaving register with a quick hack, but such changes must be carefully tracked against the MSS_GPIO IP version. Supported Hardware IP: The MSS GPIO bare metal driver can be used with Actel's MSS_GPIO IP version 0.6 or higher, included in the SmartFusion MSS.

Actel SmartFusion MSS GPIO Driver User's Guide Version 2.0 – The files provided as part of the MSS GPIO driver fall into three main categories: documentation, driver source code, and example projects. The driver is distributed via the Actel Firmware Catalog, which provides access to the documentation for the driver, generates the driver's source files into an application project, and generates example projects that illustrate how to use the driver. The Actel Firmware Catalog is available from the Actel website: www.actel.com/products/software/firmwarecat/default.aspx.
